The Flatfooted
Zafitte is a young beastwoman making a name for herself as a teen idol in the overworld. She dresses bizarrely, but that's par for the course in the world of showbiz.
She loves to dance and is always practicing steps of some sort. She isn't very good, however, and just seems curiously hyperactive most of the time. Nonetheless, she takes great pride in being an idol and tends to act rather aloof because of it. Oddly, this gap between perception and reality only seems to fuel her popularity.
The Graceful
She loves to dance and is always practicing steps of some sort. Along the way she's actually become decent at it.
This hint of greatness to come combined with her usual aloof persona are boosting her popularity.
She's made striking progress as a dancer lately and now carries herself more gracefully.
Whether terrain is covered in noxious bogs or seething magma, she can bound over all hazards with ease.
The Dancer
Her mechanical metronome and rhythm machine have helped improve her dancing markedly. Her steps and legwork now burst with dynamic energy as well.
But she remains as aloof as ever, and when in a bad mood she pulls out the plastic explosives she keeps on hand and tosses them about while dancing.
So if her song abruptly cuts off, beware! It almost certainly means she has a detonator in hand.
With Bonna
One day at training camp...
"Nice work," said Bonna, gently tossing her towel.
Zafitte smiled through the mirror as she caught the towel.
"Didn't know you were still here."
Zafitte usually stayed after lessons were over to practice her dancing on her own.
She was aloof around others, but here, away from the limelight, even she was struggling.
"I just can't get that last step right. I really want to get it down before tomorrow."
Bonna knew how hard Zafitte was trying. She also knew her efforts were not bearing fruit.
So she wanted to offer encouragement, but she didn't know what to say.
The reason for this was she had shown Zafitte the step herself, and got it right
on the first try.
She knew whatever she said, Zafitte would probably take it the wrong way.
Still, she wanted to try.
"I know you can do it, Zafitte. I mean, you're trying so hard, so..."
That was all she could come up with. Zafitte thanked Bonna, but her voice
sounded rather gloomy.
"Well, I'm heading home," said Bonna. She left.
Zafitte felt frustrated at how Bonna had told her that she was "trying so hard."
To her, it felt like Bonna was pointing out what a poor student she was.
She used that frustration to motivate herself to keep practicing. And before she knew it, it was already morning.
Though she was wearing the same clothes as yesterday, and her eyes were tired and bloodshot, she had an upbeat look on her face.
Seeing that, Bonna knew that Zafitte had grown a bit more as a performer and as a person.
And she had the feeling that someday, Zafitte would become a great dancer,
With Zerra
"Maybe I wasn't cut out to be a teen idol."
Zeera said this to Zafitte by the riverside one evening.
"I agree," replied Zafitte.
"I knew it," said Zeera glumly.
For the first time, Zeera was starting to believe she was not teen idol material.
Seeing that Zeera was having a moment of weakness, Zafitte knew she had to be stern.
She wanted Zeera to realize that in this world, the only one you can count on is yourself. She wanted to say that it is all over once you show your weakness.
So it was Zafitte said to her, "Isn't there something that only you can do?"
But it was not the packed crowds and concert halls bathed in colorful lights that came to mind.
Rather, it was the beauty of Mother Nature and her own ability to make it thrive.
Zeera stood there gazing at her hands--hands imbued with the power of the Green Thumb.
After Chapter 30
The battle seemed as though it would rage on forever, but Zafitte finally received an offer to make her solo debut.
Her dancing had already reached the level of a true artist.
It was believed that her energetic steps could give hope to a troubled world.
After many years of struggling and paying her dues, she finally took the world by storm with the dancing that she so loved.
Zafitte will undoubtedly go down in history as the teen idol who danced her way across the universe.
