Long ago, there lived a woman who lent an ear to people's woes and offered healing and salvation. She traveled the world and was known by different names in each region she visited.
Some called her an angel, others a goddess. Every name suggested a paragon of charity, healing, and benevolence.
Few accounts of her survive, as she had no interest in leaving a personal legacy behind. One legacy does remain, however: She was affectionately known as "Ami" in a certain region, and variations of this nickname are given to medics around the world to this day.
The name Ami means "white dragon." It originally referred to a benevolent wyrm that sustained the people's hearts and gave them strength.
