The Hope
Pupropu is the nephew of Palpa, princess of the stonefolk. Though he is but a child, his royal blood has given him an invaluable power: the ability to control any biological activity save for death. Once he masters this power, it is believed he should be able to conquer all manner of illness and disease.
He is still very much a child, however, and one cannot expect too much of him just yet. He's still a pampered little boy who has yet to grow out of sucking his thumb.
The Miraculous
One day, a bug flying by caught his eye, and he set off in hot pursuit without a second thought. Before he knew it, he'd reached the top of a colossal tree. His legs stiffened in front and he stood paralyzed with fear. The adults were all at their wits' end, unable to climb high enough to reach him. He finally broke down in tears from sheer terror.
Then a miracle happened. Before their eyes the great tree absorbed his tears and shrank until Pupropu was able to set foot safely upon the ground. Unfortunately, it also happened to be the sacred tree of the city of Prah, so he suffered quite a scolding from Princess Palpa later.
The Wizard
One day, a massive earthquake struck the city of Prah. Much of the region was reduced to rubble and countless precious lives were lost in the work of an instant.
But one corner of the city remained free of casualties. Buildings collapsed and fire swallowed the area, yet no lives were lost. And at the center of all this was Pupropu.
It was this incident that first opened Princess Palpa's eyes to the true nature of her nephew's power. And she was convinced from that moment that, so long as they had Pupropé and Pupropu, her people had a future.
With Pupropé
An interesting incident occurred right before Pupropu was born.
Somehow, he remembers being in total darkness. It was as though he were floating, but not weightless. Was he floating in water or in the air? He could not tell. The space around him was undefined and seemed boundless.
Then, he heard a voice.
In a warm tone, it said to him, "The future is in your hands."
Or was it a voice? It was so muffled and indistinct that Pupropu couldn't tell whether it was something more heard or felt.
Though he never learned where the voice came from, one thing was certain. He had been charged with a mission.
Pupropu's mother was a member of the royal family and Princess Palpa's elder sister.
Before his mother perished in a freak accident, she had presided over the dark side of Prah, and she was known to frequent the prison far beneath the city.
When Pupropu heard this story from Pupropé, he began to think that, perhaps, the voice he heard had belonged to Pepropé.
