The Apothecary
Kana is a beastwoman well versed in the medicines of her people. Her glasses are a distinguishing feature, as few of her kind wear them. Her gentle and easygoing nature makes her unsuited to battle in the front lines, but she is valuable as a medic. She also serves as a teacher in her spare time.
While she has no shortage of knowledge, her work ethic and innate naivete have left her largely inexperienced with the opposite sex.
The Instructor
Kana has been getting so much teaching work that she spends more time as an instructor than an apothecary lately.
She herself finds more joy in guiding her growing young charges than in spending her days with silent medicines.
Incidentally, she's immensely popular with male students who have a thing for girls with glasses.
The Chemist
A highly lauded chemistry experiment and thesis have set Kana on a new career path as a chemist.
Although initially reluctant to abandon teaching, she is now a consummate researcher striving to open the way to a brighter future through advances in chemistry.
With Zan
"Ah, what a fine specimen..."
Zan was the focus of Kana's attention.
She evidently found his way of life stirring. It was understandable.
Her love life was as yet an empty book. If you came right down to it, her pen and diary were the only lovers she had ever known. But what she lacked in experience, she made up for in knowledge.
Zan's hyper-masculine aura was too much for her to resist. Kana, normally cool and intellectual, spoke with a certain hunger.
"Relax. It's only natural for male and female to passionately mate and produce even stronger progeny..."
It seemed that her self-control was approaching its limit.
With Peyrna
"You want to study?" Kana repeated, surprised.
She had just prepared for bed when Peyrna had appeared, saying she wanted to talk.
"I...have so much to learn. I can speak, but I can't write. Or read."
"I see..."
Looking Peyrna straight in the eye, Kana asked, "What is it you'd like to study?"
The girl thought for a bit, then mumbled, "Um... School...study?"
Kana suppressed a smile. "Sorry, I phrased that badly." She thought a moment, then tried again in a gentler voice.
"Maybe...you know what you want to be when you grow up?"
Peyrna's eyes widened in surprise. She smiled, a little awkwardly.
"A doctor."
Kana realized that these words, coming from a girl of so few, were surely significant. She nodded thoughtfully.
"There must be someone you want to save."
Peyrna abruptly burst into tears at this. Catching her in her arms, Kana held her close and tried to comfort her. She stroked her hair gently as the girl sobbed away.
For some reason, this only made Peyrna cry even harder.
