Profile[]
Liar. Deadbeat. Scum. Gegonago was a born loser, regularly called all this and worse.
He led an extraordinarily humdrum life. He was gifted with neither brains nor beauty, strength nor speed. Nor was he particularly good at relating to others or sharing their pain.
So it was perhaps no surprise that Gegonago rarely made friends and grew estranged even from his family. He rebuffed and ridiculed others to compensate for his own insecurities.
One day, a melody sprang up in his head. It led him into a forest, where he found a faerie.
The faerie slumbered in a device that resembled a bottle. She was a mysterious creature, spirited and defiant.
Gegonago considered selling this new treasure off somewhere, but he soon changed his mind.
He finally had someone to talk to.
The faerie, meanwhile, couldn't care less whether the beastman was a loser or a lord. She just wanted a way to kill time. So when Gegonago told and retold tall tales of his own heroic feats, she happily listened and nodded along.
The Gegonago starring in these tales was a genius scientist, a genius musician, and a genius sorcerer.
But the more he boasted and the more the faerie obliged him with admiring responses, the more bitterly Gegonago regretted all the time he had wasted accomplishing nothing.
His remorse grew until it spilled forth in words:
"If I could do it all again, surely someday even I..."
The faerie scoffed that there was no reason a loser who'd achieved nothing could ever achieve anything even if he could turn back time. Gegonago protested vehemently that there was no way to know without trying, but the faerie's reply was simple:
"How many times have we met now, after all? Think about it."
Wait. Could that possibly mean...?
Gegonago failed to grasp the implications. "Huh?" The faerie sighed. "You are hopeless. Fine, I'll tap your potential for this one thing only."
So saying, she radiated a glow that pierced Gegonago's forehead.
The next instant, a torrent of knowledge gushed up from within, astonishing him.
Gegonago thus gained the power to control time. It was the last time he ever heard the faerie's voice.Trivia[]
