Czekras is the war chief of a tribe that dwells on scorching grasslands. He can use ice spells simply because his people believe in a guardian deity that prizes balance above all else. Just as yin counterbalances yang, it is freezing ice that brings balance to the torrid plains.While his exact age is unknown, Czekras is thought to be a child, for the people of his tribe are short-lived and trained as warriors from a very young age. The battle raiment this proud warrior wears is made by the women of his tribe. He wears it with affection and will do so until the day he dies--a symbol of the bonds that connect them.
The SwiftHis physical strength manifests primarily in his speed, and he prides himself on the explosive movements it can generate. He also has superhuman vision with which he can discern foes several hundred meters ahead. Combined with his speed, this allows him to engage foes at close range almost as soon as he spots them.
The StrikerThose bonds now include a strange contraption known as a "machine." The blood of his people, flowing back countless generations, calls out for him to seek more than simply strength, and he stays true to this inner call.
After Chapter 16
Czekras advocated integration with machines, which was not necessarily taboo among his tribe, for they had an intuitive sense of the cycle of life and of the soul. So he saw everything as the great circle of existence once he learned of Animata and the Life Breeder Reactor.
"I, too, will die someday... but that doesn't mean the end."Czekras sensed the boundlessness of the universe and therein discovered immortality.
Czekras learned one day just how primitive his tribe had been.
On your perilous journey, the quality of the supplies your party obtained was the difference between life and death.
Knowing this, Czekras's eyes seemed to glaze over when he was chosen to take charge of provisioning the ship.
His tribe had been based on self-sufficiency, and he, therefore, had no concept of money and commerce.
He did not even understand how to go about gathering the provisions the ship needed. This was not lost on Pupropé.
"What's a market, anyway?" he said with all honesty. "Is it something you can eat?"
"Follow me," she said. "I'll show you what to do!"It seemed Pupropé had her work cut out for her. And all Czekras could do was quietly follow her high-handed lead.
