A magical mechanized weapon created for the purpose of controlling space-time. Its enormous head is packed with a treasure trove of high-tech instruments and advanced technologies.

One day, a young man with a flair for the unique laid eyes upon its strange frame. Though its deformed head made the machine seem slightly grotesque, when taken together as the sum of its parts, it was surprisingly adorable.
Sensing an opportunity, the man stripped the machine of its military hardware and adapted it for civilian use. To show the world what he had created, he donated one unit to a zoo featuring all manner of magical creatures.
Its advanced hardware and software allowed it to hold a conversation with curious onlookers, and it soon became one of the zoo's most popular attractions. Despite its linguistic competence, there are rare times when it speaks at a vastly accelerated pace, resulting in mostly gibberish.
An engineer theorized that the machine was defragmenting the vast amounts of recorded voice data in its memory banks when it spoke this way, and recorded some of the high-speed speech to put his hypothesis to the test.
The result was less than he had hoped for. When slowed down, the recording revealed that the machine was playing back the conversations that had taken place at the zoo, with showbiz gossip being the predominant topic.

This was a conscious design decision made by its creators, for a single machine to control space-time would require hardware that would be impractically massive. Distributing the workload among multiple smaller units also had the advantage of making maintenance on any single one easier.
Despite being made for this singular purpose, the machine's memory banks contain no records of ever having controlled space-time. The machine never got the chance to fulfill its intended purpose, for the dream of controlling space-time was shattered by the realities of total war.
Before its creators could see their project to completion, their country was engulfed in the flames of conflict. Facing annihilation, they tweaked the machine's photon control systems to emit barriers of light rather than control space-time, and it was quickly pushed into mass production as their last line of defense.Trivia[]
