Amazora is a would-be doctor of mechanical engineering.
She originally dreamed of pursuing research, advocating the expansion of human potential via mechanical augmentation.
But she had a disconcerting tendency to mutter to herself and occasionally squeal for no apparent reason. People came to view her as an eccentric and kept their distance.
Her distinctive auxiliary arm is not her own invention but an acquisition from her travels.
She came across it in the course of an impulsive, aimless journey. It lay crushed among the wreckage of a caravan that had been assaulted and destroyed.
The moment Amazora discovered it, a shock crashed through her and a dull ache flared in her right eye. Fighting back the pain, she picked up the arm.
The fallen caravan members sprawled around her abruptly rose from the dead and attacked.
Amazora was a scholar, not a fighter. Terrified, she tightened her grip on the arm in her right hand--and the pain in her right eye subsided. Her panic vanished along with it.
She found herself curiously calm. Everything clicked into place. She could find no other words to describe it.
Amazora could feel the undead caravan members creeping closer, their movement almost palpable.
Actually, no. It was distinctly...visible.
The mechanical arm struck them down as they attacked, as though in response to her hunger to survive.
It all happened in an instant. And in that instant, she lost something as well: the sight in her right eye.
From that day forward, Amazora was sure of one thing:
By sacrificing something, people can gain something in return.
This belief strengthened her conviction that the fusion of man and machine can unlock unfathomable potential.
